Star Wars: Space-Based Shit

Monday, 01 September 2008.

For what will probably turn out not to be the last time, another Star Wars feature film has been released in theatres. I can't say that the prospect of another Star Wars film induced any kind of joy in me, I do not have much time for George Lucas. I don't like Star Wars, I think it is massively over hyped, cliché, predictable and corny. I find the original trilogy boring, and the second trilogy of prequels frankly ludicrous.

The worldwide pop culture phenomenon is almost universally loved by men about my age, and I have had quite a few heated conversations in pubs when I've voiced my dislike of the 'made for merchandise' franchise is simply a watered down and infantile version of true, dark sci-fi....

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Saturday, 23 August 2008.

Following the success of the 2004 film Hellboy, Guillermo del Toro returns with the thoroughly awesome, entertaining and visually inventive, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.

Between them, they have to save the world from total destruction... Such is the way of things....

Sonic The Hedgehog

Monday, 11 August 2008.

Up, Down, Left, Right, A + Start together. It was this magical code which when entered at the title screen, would result in a little bell ring sound effect and then you get to choose your level. I am of course referring to the dark days of the 90s, my beloved Sega Mega Drive and Sonic The Hedgehog. Sonic, was a bright blue hedgehog with the ability to run at super speed. His job was almost always the same, to save his world and the small fury woodland creatures who lived there from the evil overweight mad genius Dr. Robotnik.

The Dark Knight

Monday, 04 August 2008.

Some 4.7 million people have already paid to see The Dark Knight in the UK, and I am happy to say I'm one of them. Following on from the fantastic Batman Begins, this is the second in the 'relaunched' Batman series.

Spoilers beneath the picture....
