Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii has been top of my game-playing time since the UK release just over a week ago. US players still have to wait until the 27th April so I've been taking the opportunity to brush up on my skills. Apparently the game has become the fastest selling Nintendo game in the UK ever, and had the eighth biggest opening sales week in UK software history.

I've previously played Mario Kart Super Circuit for the Game Boy Advance, and briefly Mario Kart 64, so I knew what to expect. Mario Kart Wii is the sixth installment in the series, and basically the same as all the other games. This isn't a bad thing, don't get me wrong, Mario Kart is a classic game. Two modes, Solo and Multiplayer provide plenty of fun if you are on your own, have a competitive girlfriend by your side, or have internet access ...

BBC and Nintendo Partnership

Yesterday the BBC and Nintendo announced that the iPlayer was to run on the Wii. This now means that you can use the streaming service to catch up with BBC programmes.

This is excellent news to me, because A: I have a Wii and B: Because I am middle class enough to think the BBC is wonderful. Currently you need to pay for and downloaded the Wii Internet Channel, (a version of the Opera 9 web browser), but according the BBC the current 'iPlayer on Wii' is a beta and they are working on a free, more polished version': ...

CSS Naked Day

I like memes, mostly of the creator of the word, but that's another story. Today is CSS Naked Day, so all the clever CSS that makes this site more than just text on a page, goes to be left with... well hopefully an example of the proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure.

Dustin Diaz came up with the idea to go "website naked" in 2006 and over the past few years the event has got more widely recognised. For one day International day (48 hours) webmasters around the globe strip CSS from their websites to promote Web Standards with layered semantic markup, and a clear separation between content, and presentation to enhance accessbility....
