Discworld on OSX with Boxer

In October 2006 I wrote about ScummVM, a cross-platform emulator which lets you play such games as Simon the Sorcerer and Monkey Island.

Well the game I most wanted to play on my mac is the 1995 DOS a graphic adventure game, Discworld, based on the series of novels written by Terry Pratchett. Read the rest of this entry »

The Byron Review

This week, the Byron Review was published. TV's Dr Tanya Byron was commissioned by Gordon Brown to write an independent report on the effects of Internet content and video game violence on kids and young people, amid concerns that violent games may be lowering children's morals.

When Stefan Pakeerah, 14, was killed in February by a friend, his father Patrick Pakeerah claimed that the murder was inspired by the game computer game Manhunt. No such evidence was ever found. Read the rest of this entry »

The Colour of Magic

After the success, of Hogfather, this Easter weekend sees Terry Pratchett's The Colour of Magic first broadcast of Sky Television here in the UK.

The adaption of the the first two Discworld novels, The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic are being broadcast this Sunday and Monday on Sky One, and in HD, at 6pm. This is also being shown as a multi-start. Read the rest of this entry »

As a PC gamer all my life, I knew that buying a Mac would probably end my gaming addiction. Gaming on the mac is a fairly lonely existence, even though the Game section of the Apple website seems to suggest otherwise.
