Vista Released Today
Tuesday, 30 January 2007. Microsoft.
Microsoft Windows Vista is released for worldwide retail today. Two years late, costing more than £200, and already found to be housing Microsoft's traditional security shoddiness, I have to say "Ho (and indeed) Hum".
So I have been converted to a Mac loving, Windows snubbing geek so I may be biased but I do wonder why the new Vista looks a lot like Apple, and if I want to enter the Windows world again. The rather in-depth Criticism of Windows Vista, page on Wikipedia does little to improve my feelings of distrust.
I like Apple now, there are far too many things that would stop me going back, it looks so good, it is rock solid, and hasn't crashed once. My life has been made so much easier and secure thanks to the power of Automator, and frankly the integrated entertainment system that is Front Row is worth the asking price.
Thing is... I don't actually need Windows. I have found nothing in my daily life that requires Microsoft products at all, except MSN Messenger. I don't use the program only the network, (I use Adium), and that's only because all my friends use MSN as their messenger service of choice. I would love to use Jabber, believe me.
So yeah... new Windows? No thanks.
