Serious Organised Crime

I thought I would write this, whilst you still have the chance to hear it.

Mark Thomas is an English comedian and political activist, and recently he had a one off show on BBC Radio 4. Mark Thomas: My Life in Serious Organised Crime, is the (true) story of his campaign against the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005 which requires anyone wishing to protest near the Houses of Parliament to obtain a permit. However, what counts as a demonstration according to the police is one person with a banner or one person with a badge standing in Parliament Square for just one minute.

In his show he stood on Hungerfood bridge to demonstrate against footbridges, calling for the revival of the "Twinkie Perm", and concerning the crises of "The Attack On Surrealism"... you get the idea. Anyway, if you have never listened to BBC Radio 4 give this a go, its very funny and makes a serious point.

You can currently listen to the show on the Radio 4 website. However, you could download the .mp3 as a torrent. The legality of this is dubious, but as you are listening to a program called, "Mark Thomas: My Life in Serious Organised Crime", I think the irony is not lost.

Update: This show is now available on iTunes.
