Making Money

Thursday, 20 September 2007. .

'Making Money' is the new Discworld book from Terry Pratchett, and guess what? It's released today!

Apparently picking off where Going Postal left off, re-introducing former confidence trickster, (now reformed Postmaster General), Moist von Lipwig in his task of reinstating the Ankh-Morpork mint and the introduction of paper money to the city.

Making Money

The novel is number 36 in the Discworld trilogy. To accompany the first edition of Making Money, Waterstone's are apparently going to include a few Ankh-Morpork bank notes, previously they have included a selection of postage stamps with 'Going Postal'.

In other Pratchett news, after the huge success of Sky One's Hogfather adaptation, they are currently making the first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic into a telly movie. Now personally I am hugely skeptical of casting David Jason as Rincewind- but I'll reserve judgement until I see it. The cast also includes Sean Astin as Twoflower, and Christopher Lee replacing the late Ian Richardson as the voice of Death.

You can read the first chapter of Making Money on Terry's US Harper Collins site, and the book can be bought from Amazon or Play, or indeed anywhere that sells books! I'm heading out now to get myself a copy in a real bookshop- something I will generally only do for PTerry.
