Firefox 2 Released and

WilcosWorld.co.uk on Firefox

I would not be serving you well if I did not announce that today, Firefox 2.0 is avalible for download. I have been playing and testing the beta versions for the last few months, and the new features are damn good. So, lets get to what's new!

New Toys:

  • Improved UI
  • Google Suggest Box
  • Built in spell check
  • Anti-phishing
  • RSS controls

There are also plenty of security and performance updates. You can download a copy for Mac or Windows from the Mozilla site right now.

For those of you who refuse to get Firefox, no matter how much I go on about it, the new Internet Explorer 7 is being pushed out, so if you have auto-update switched on you should get the update soon. I had a play with Internet Explorer 7 on my laptop last night, and can confirm that finally there is proper support for transparent pngs. So my sites will start to look halfway decent.

Notes

If you find some of your Firefox extensions broken and no update exists, you can do the fix.

Not of interest to many, but I might as well mention that you can run both IE 6 & 7. I tried it last night and works a charm.
